My Top 5 Favorite Novels

Books are, no doubt, our best friend. They are food for thought. They console us in our sorrow and make us forget the worries of life.

One of my favourite things to do during free time is to read. Reading can transport you into another world, fictional or not, from the comfort of your couch. It broadens your mind, improves your vocabulary and grammar and is one of the most affordable hobbies ever- hours and hours of entertainment for around Rs. 200.

I love getting book recommendations from others, so I thought I would share my favourite books of all time with you, and I’ve also included links to purchase the most affordable version of the e-book or actual book from various e-commerce websites specially Flipkart , who are usually cheapest with books. If you are keen on the e-book then check Amazon too, because they are sometimes cheaper. Thanks to 27 coupons I got great deals on most of them. You should check it too. I have given a detailed idea below of how u can also benefit  from it.

This selection should give you a fairly good idea of my taste (I read non fiction occasionally), so if you have suggestions  for me, then please comment below.

Happy reading!!

1. World's best boyfriend by Durjoy Datta

Hate, is a four letter word.
So is love.
And sometimes, people can’t tell the difference…

Dhurv and Aranya spend a good part of their lives trying to figure out why they want to destroy each other, why they hurt each other so deeply. And, why they can’t stay away from each other.
The answer is just as difficult each time because all they’ve wanted is to do the worst, most miserable things to one another. Yet there is something that tells them: THIS IS NOT IT.

If you want to know the answer to it all, read the book.

Another compelling read from the National Best Seller Durjoy Datta . WORLD'S BEST BOYFRIEND is a hooking tale that let the reader get completely lost in the plot , Book is so gluey that it let the reader sticked to the book and let just the pages turn .
The writing is captivating.

Every book of his is an improvised version of the previous one.
I wont say that World's Best Boyfriend is the best book he has ever written, for i know that the next will be even good.

Its a Hate-Love story and author has tried something different. The writing is humorous and witty and i loved it so much. The imperfect characters with their own flaws are portrayed perfectly.
Beginning with Front Cover ~ After finishing the book , I found the front cover to be completely apt and suits the story .

With Blue background , DURJOY DATTA on Top and then comes the Heart build from puzzles , actually incomplete and Beneath it is written the title World's Best Boyfriend . Catching thing in the cover is of course the name of the book and more than that , cutting the word WORST an writing over it BEST in the Book's name .

It is a must read!

2.  Half Girlfriend by Chetan Bhagat

Once upon a time, there was a Bihari boy called Madhav. He fell in love with a rich girl from Delhi called Riya. Madhav didnt speak English well. Riya did. Madhav wanted a relationship. Riya didn't. Riya just wanted friendship. Madhav didn't. Riya suggested a compromise. She agreed to be his half-girlfriend.

From the author of the blockbuster novels Five Point Someone, One Night at the Call Centre, The 3 Mistakes of My Life, 2 States and Revolution 2020 comes a simple and beautiful love story that will touch your heart and inspire you to chase your dreams.

I actually did not want to read this book , because I am not that into romantic stories and not interested in them. Previously I have read Chetan Bhagat's books , which were all romantic ones , but the story line was good.

So I chose not to read this one.
But mom asked me to pick it up and once I started reading this book ,
it was just so good that I could not stop reading it.

Its different from Chetan Bhagat's usual stories , which contains so much romance.
But this one was funny , irresistible. It makes you laugh and become sad in between.
Madhav , the main character is a shade of most of ourselves and the way he gave
witty answers even though he did not know English made me think a lot and laugh a lot.
The main character , Riya too was not the usual girl , whom you see in Chetan Bhagat's books.

All over the book was different and I feel like this is his best of all the others!

3. Your dreams are mine now by Ravinder singh

They are complete opposites!

She's a small-town girl who takes admission in Delhi University (DU). An idealist, studies are her first priority. He's a Delhi guy, seriously into youth politics in DU. He fights to make his way.

But their fight against evil comes at a heavy price, which becomes the ultimate test of their lives. Against the backdrop of dominant campus politics, Your Dreams Are Mine Now is an innocent love story that will tug at your heartstrings.

4. Playing it my way by Sachin Tendulkar

Never has a cricketer been burdened with so many expectations never has a cricketer performed at such a high level for so long and with such style - scoring more runs and making more centuries than any other player, in both Tests and one-day games. And perhaps only one cricketer could have brought together a shocked nation by defiantly scoring a Test century shortly after terrorist attacks rocked Mumbai. His many achievements with India include winning the World Cup and topping the world Test rankings. Yet he has also known his fair share of frustration and failure - from injuries and early World Cup exits to stinging criticism from the press, especially during his unhappy tenure as captain.

Despite his celebrity status, Sachin Tendulkar has always remained a very private man, devoted to his family and his country. Now, for the first time, he provides a fascinating insight into his personal life and gives a frank and revealing account of a sporting life like no other.

Beginning with his childhood, the memoir is a journey through the life of Sachin through twenty-eight informative and insightful chapters, from the first time he lifted the bat to his last walk back to the pavilion, it is as much a memoir of Sachin as much as it is a history of cricket in India.

Sachin’s autobiography covers his family, wife Anjali, his first tour, his captaincy of the Indian cricket team, the period that severely tested his career, about music: his second love, the highs and lows of his prolific career and the glorious World Cup triumph. While Sachin’s life has been an open book, fans will get to know him better through this memoir as he shared many personal thoughts which will surprised many.

Sachin’s autobiography will also benefit charitable causes as the proceeds from the sale of Playing It My Way: My Autobiography by Sachin Tendulkar with Boria Majumdar will be used to support two charitable causes: the alleviation of malnutrition in children and the provision of clean water to the underprivileged.

All the more reasons for fans to buy the book, if not for keepsake alone!

5. Wings of fire by Dr. A.P.J ABDUL KALAM

Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, the son of a little-educated boat-owner in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, had an unparalleled career as a defence scientist, culminating in the highest civilian award of India, the Bharat Ratna. As chief of the country’s defence research and development programme, Kalam demonstrated the great potential for dynamism and innovation that existed in seemingly moribund research establishments.

This is the story of Kalam’s rise from obscurity and his personal and professional struggles, as well as the story of Agni, Prithvi, Akash, Trishul and Nag-missiles that have become household names in India and that have raised the nation to the level of a missile power of international reckoning. This is also the saga of independent India’s struggle for technological self-sufficiency and defensive autonomy-a story as much about politics, domestic and international, as it is about science.

A truly inspiring book by our former president, the best president we had in my lifetime if i might add. This book is not just about rocket science and physics, rather is about India's one of the greatest achievements in recent history, to be in the class of an elite few counties to be able to have a very long range icbm and the ability to launch their own space vehicles into the orbit.

This book helped us realise how this great man's and many others incessant hard work helped our country achieve it. APJ Abdul Kalam is a great engineer, scientist, manager and a president. He, in this book has illustrated how his inner strength and spiritual upbringing helped him achieve so.

He is an inspiration for millions, a boy from humble milieu making his way up to one of the biggest platform for scientists is certainly an inspiration for millions of under-privileged kids for sure.
He was a great manager as well, he has outlined vividly how to lead teams and how to handle difficult situations as well as rejections. This book is must read for all types of people.

This is an ever inspiring story for all the citizens of India
